This Committee performs advocacy work protecting voting rights and advancing a more equitable democracy through advocacy and voter protection efforts. The LWVCC also advocates on issues because systemic inequities prohibit people from participating equally in our democracy. The Observer Corps, Legislative Advocacy, and Local Good Governance are subcommittees found under the Advocacy and Issues umbrella.

This committee focuses on all things associated with voting - voter registration, voting rules and regulations, Get Out The Vote (GOTV), tabling at community events, holding candidate forums, and collaborating with local schools to engage youth.

Members shape the character of our League and are key to accomplishing our many goals. This committee actively seeks to attract and recruit new members, and retain existing members.

Every two years, we celebrate a member of our community who represents the ideals of Alice Walker: service, justice, and an independent spirit. This committee conducts the candidate search and selects the honoree.

Every year we hold an annual dinner in May to share our years accomplishments and the coming year's goals. We also honor the recipient of the Alice A. Walker award, our student delegates to Students Inside Albany. .

Budget
This committee prepares a budget for the following year and sends it to all members for review two weeks before the Annual Meeting.
It is appointed by the Board of Directors at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting.

Nominating
The Nominating Committee creates and presents the slate of Officers and Directors for the Annual Meeting. It consists of three board members and two non-board members.

This committee drafts new policies as requested by the Board; reviews existing policies every five years and the Bylaws every three years (or sooner if needed) and suggests updates, if needed.

This committee plans interesting and relevant topics/speakers for our monthly members meetings.

Every year we send one or two students to Albany for 3 nights to learn about our how our government works. This committee builds relationships with county high schools to foster interest in the program, oversees the selection of students, and acts as the liaison with LWVNY.
